Spread the “warm” snows over Payatas
16th Dec 2008, Late Night , Rainy
Ever heard of Payatas ? I have no idea of it until I read it from here and here . From my first glances from Google search results, what I can think about Payatas is garbage and trash.

Yes, the waste dump in Payatas is Manila’s main waste dump with garbage piled as high as seven stories in some places. Impoverished squatters, including many children, live in the area and pick through the dump to collect items they can sell.
It is located in the suburbs of Manila, 20 km away from the central area of the city. It is called Smoky Valley after Smoky Mountain, the biggest garbage dump in the Phillipines and one of the three biggest slums in the world.
In order to help these people, a campaign called Christmas For Payatas was recently launced. It is a children’s charity initiative, organized by ToteDaddy.com and the Lighthouse Center for Children Foundation.
Here are some videos about Payatas:
It is hoped that by creating better awareness to the plight of these children, more support can be garnered towards their betterment. The little amount we can donate can help bury the poverty.
Xmas is around the corner…. Lets spread the warm “snows” over Payatas and bury the poverty dump
